BMW Tuning
The current generation BMW M3 uses the S65B40 naturally aspirated 4-litre V8 which produces 420PS / 309kW at 8,300 rpm and 400 Nm at 3,900 rpm. BMW offers an M-DCT (Double Clutch Transmission), which reduces shift times to less than a tenth of a second and 0-100 km/h times by 0.2 seconds. Power is transferred via the M differential lock to the rear wheels to minimise traction inefficiencies.
The 306 PS / 225kW petrol engines feature direct fuel injection and full variable valve control integrated into the drive train. A twin scroll turbocharger with high precision injection and valve-tronic delivers 400 Nm at 1,200 rpm, maintaining this peak to 5,000 rpm. Six-cylinder diesels rely on a combination of multi-stage turbo charging and common rail direct fuel injection. BMW’s innovations in engine, turbochargers and fuel injection systems has resulted in increased power outputs, lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
